Free Choice

Why is Greg wanting to find a best friend when he has Rowley to still be friends with?
Why does Greg think so highly of him self?
I think he is trying to get more than one friend because he even says he needs more friends if hes going to become popular. He is always putting others down, and always seems to want to find way he thinks to get him self popular.

Who is the 'hero' of your book?

The character in my book Diary of a Wimpy Kid does not really have a hero. Greg is someone who is more laid back and lazy. He likes to sit on the couch and watch tv all day rather than go outside and play foot ball or some type of sport.

Character Archetypes

The character I have chosen is Greg Heffley from the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid( by Jeff Kinney). The character archetypes I would chose for the character are, a loner, because Greg seems to be one of those people others want to stay away from. Greg is sometimes with his best friend, but he wants to be cool and his friend isn't helping him with that, so, he tries to stay away from him. I would also describe this character as a fool. I think Greg is a fool because he is trying to be cool, but because he is staying away from his only friend, its not really helping him out a whole lot. Greg seems to be the type of person that thinks he is doing something right, but messes up at the last minute. Greg tries to come up with goals and plans but in the end they backfire. Just recently in the book I'm reading, he was trying to think of a way to hide this fact that he made his soccer team lose there first time, just because Greg wasn't paying attention to the game. (page 152) Did you remember to bend your knees? asks Greg's father. Mmhmm.. Greg replied.
(page 153) A "Blown" Opportunity
Red socks goalie Gregory Heffley takes a break from the action as a fifty yard kick by Demon Dawgs midfielder James Byron rolls in. The score ended the socks' bid for an undefeated season. Was how Greg's plan happened to backfire.

Main Character

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K Rowling, is an interesting book about a young boy, Harry Potter. In this book, he is the main character because it is telling about whats going on in his life, in the beginning it explains how he is living with muggles, just until its off to school at the School of Witch Craft and Wizardry.
Harry wasn't a normal boy. As a matter of fact he was not as normal as it is possible to be. (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K Rowling, Page 8)
Harry, on the other hand, was small and skinny, with brilliant green eyes and jet black hair which was always untidey. (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K Rowling, Page 9) This describes the personality in Harry potter, and what he looks like. In my opinion of Harry's personality, he seems strong and heroic because he seems to help save the day in different parts of the book. Like right now he is being heroic because Harry is dealing with the fact he is being blamed for the mysterious things going on in the castle. Through our this book they meet new events of danger but in the end they still find a way to save the day.

What This Remindes Me Of...

The book Killing Mr. Griffin by Lois Duncan is a good book about kids getting in trouble for something they didn't really mean to do. This book is not just about that but I think its basically the main point of the book. 6 kids wanted to teach their teacher a lesson because they were always the ones in the class to get picked on by him.
My opinion of what it is reminding me of is how kids get in trouble for something they didn't really mean to do, like in the book, they killed the teacher and they didn't really mean too. In real life i could compare it with my life because if i do something i didn't mean to do i get in trouble for it. I find its like that for everyone because they learn from there mistakes but in this book i haven't gotten far enough to see if they get caught for what they have done yet.

Herry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets

I started reading the book Herry Potter, it is the second book out of all of the Herry Potter series. The book is telling a part about how a boy is living with "muggles" (who are people, just like you and me) and he absolutely hates it. Herry Potter is a wizard whom had attended a Wizards School Of Wizardry and Witch craft the past year. (First book) In the part of the story I'm reading now, Herry Potter and his friend Ron had just left to go shopping to get all the things they need to attend to the school of Wizardry and Witchcraft. Except, when he had used a special way to travel there he appeared in a dark ally, where he shouldn't have been. Herry is now hiding under a cabinet because of a boy Draco Moufoy whom had appeared in the door.
His dad behind him walking through the door. Which is where the book got closed. I think this book is a good book so far because it has a sense of adventure and has some action and drama in it, which makes it a better book in my opinion.

There is also a movie that has come after the book, and because I hadn't read the book before the movies came out, i find the movie missed a lot of parts in the book. In the book, Harry is put in a room but before he had left, people stop him from leaving. And once he opened the door to leave the room, people had stopped him again after that. In the movie Harry just left and after he walked a little bit, then people stop him. I find this book is a lot more detailed than the movie for more than just that reason as well but I guess it makes the book seem better then the movie in that way.

Reading Quote

"To Read A Book Is To Learn The Experience" -Anonymous

I chose this quote because to me, it meant, the writer had the experience of doing this. If it was a dream or in real life even, it could mean they experienced it. As well it also could mean something about there feelings. I chose this quote because it makes me think of the types of books I would read. I like to read books that have a feeling to my life or my feelings, rather than just picking up any book, from any pile which could have nothing to do with things around my life, it could be boring or hard to understand. If its something you understand it could help you to get a feeling for the character or how the character feels which helps draw you into the book. There for The book could having meaning as to why you chose it.
